National Association of Container Freight Stations was founded in April, 1994 in the ‘Union Territory of Chandigarh with less than 10 members and has grown to over 360 Members.

ICD/CFS/AFS/WH

Inland Container Depots(ICD)/Container Freight Stations(CFS)/Air Freight Stations(AFS) and Warehouse act as hubs in the complete logistics chain. The Government of India has approved setting up Inland Container Depots (ICD) where shipping and customs formalities for containerized cargo can be completed. Container Freight Stations (CFS) are an extension of the port. In the overall ecosystem of Customs clearance, CFS has played an important role in the faster clearance of EXIM goods. As a result, a bulk of regulatory activity other than appraising has shifted to CFSs.

A Port Terminal acts as a transit point and CFSs and ICDs as extensions of port, provide storage facilities to Exporters / Importers. CFS and ICD facilitate Gateway Ports / Terminals to handle more containers with existing infrastructure.
